Do you remember when you found out that you were good at something worthwhile? Not that you were a master at it from the very beginning, but the first time you sang, picked up a guitar, or put a brush in your hand to paint, something about it made you want more. So, you pursued it, and you got better and better at it, and now, you're pretty good. No doubt, some of you may even make a good living doing what you love to do.
You might say, "I was born to do this", and you might be right, you've found your purpose. That purpose, that drive, is what gets you out of bed in the morning, it's what makes you want to hit the ground running, and it's what makes you want to be the best that you can be.
Sadly though, for many youth of our nation, trapped in a revolving door of sub-standard education, surrounded by peers who hold back from excelling because it brings unwanted attention if they do, are ensnared in the very system that is supposed to raise them up.
Add to this the burden on the family due to divorce, a struggling economy, and the digression of the moral compass of society, the number of youths today who are privileged with solid families, good role models, discipline, and encouragement have dwindled to a small minority.
That's why I ask you to join us. Together, we can change the tide. If you are reading this and wonder what you have to offer, let me suggest a few. First, the fact that you are reading this proves that you care. Many of our youth today don't think or know that anyone cares.
Anne Ortlund wrote a book a few years back titled, "Children are Wet Cement." The idea of the book is that children are impressionable and soon will be formed and hardened into the kind of person they will become. How awesome would it be for someone who cares to come alongside of a young person who needs to know that someone cares about them, and wants to see them succeed? So, if you are reading this, you have something to offer.
Our vision for this youth movement includes academics, the arts, sports, and trades. We need teacher, tutors, and counselors for academics to begin with, because we want first and foremost, to help youth achieve their best in academics. Once we've instilled a healthy outlook toward the importance of education, as a reward, we want to introduce them to a vast assortment of opportunities. So, we are looking for musicians, actors, dancers, filmmakers, script writers, choir directors, set designers, film editors, music producers, auto mechanics, plumbers, electricians, builders, architects, designers, and engineers, just to name a few.
If you believe that God put you on this earth to do more than just living for yourself, and you want to make a difference in a life other than your own, we invite you to join our movement.
